UGA Extension in Chatham County provides a variety of educational programs and client services in the areas of Family and Consumer Sciences (FACS), 4-H Youth Development, and Agriculture and Natural Resources (ANR).

What is UGA Extension?

UGA Extension extends lifelong learning to the people of Georgia through unbiased, research-based education in agriculture, the environment, communities, youth and families.

UGA Extension helps Georgians become healthier, more productive, financially independent and environmentally responsible. Extension agents stay in touch with issues relevant to people in local communities through County Extension offices.

UGA Extension is a county, state and federal funded organization supported by specialists in the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences and the College of Family and Consumer Sciences.

Statewide Extension Events

  • Apr 26 - Apr 28 NE/NW District Junior Rally (6th - 8th Grades) - Wahsega 4-H Event

  • Aug 29 - Oct 25 Master Naturalist Program UGA Extension in Cobb, Douglas, & Paulding Counties are hosting a Master Naturalist Training program that provides comprehensive training for beginning farmers. The Georgia Master Naturalist Program is a hands-on environmental education course that explores habitats and ecosystems in Georgia and human impacts on these environments. This 9 day program consists of weekly field trips with in-depth lectures from regional experts on a wide variety of environmental and ecological topics. Transportation is provided to and from all locations. Fee covers weekly field trips, tours, speakers, class materials, name badge, Georgia Master Naturalist polo, snacks, drinks, and certificate of completion. The program dates are every Friday in September and every Thursday in October including an overnight on Oct. 24-25. The program days are from 9:00am to 4:00pm with an hour lunch, not including drive time.

  • Sep 27 GRASSROOTS 365 GRASSROOTS 365 is a new program offered by the UGA Forage Team. The one-day course will include local forage tours, timely lectures, hands-on learning, and opportunities to ask questions of a panel of county agents and UGA's forage specialist. Bring a weed for the team to identify and recommend control options. The $20 registration fee includes lunch and all course materials.
